Pure Vermont DisplayDirt

I think of many wonderful things when it comes to Vermont. Beautiful mountains that seem to rise out of nowhere, fall foliage where the colors are like rainbows. Cold winters, the smell of wood burning stoves, snowmobiles and winter festivals on the ice covered lakes. Snow packed mountains where the skiing is epic just before the spring thaw that fills up the streams where gold can still be found. 100 year old sugar houses boiling sap for that sweet syrup. Yes maple syrup, that’s truly the one thing I always think of with my time spent in Vermont. So what better way to display a Vermont paydirt than in this beautiful antique maple syrup tin that’s over 50 years old. This material is collected from one of my favorite, nearly local, prospecting spots. It’s loaded with ultra coarse magnetite and beautiful natural snowball garnets that have exfoliated from the host metamorphic rock. This area contains a lot of quartz stringers that are clearly visible at the surface and even produce some occasional small specimen gold. I have added over 2 grams of gold to this including a really nice picker. Panning it out will definitely take some time if you decide not to remove the magnetic material. This one of a kind and exclusive paydirt is definitely a fun piece and I highly encourage you to dry the material back out after panning and save this specialty paydirt for your collection.
